HEGAY

HEGAY is a piece of work exploring the life and queer identity of Armistead Maupin, and his transition from a Conservative and Segregationist, to a queer icon within mainstream literature publishing.

The work is a movement-based performance that blends live performance and digital AV projection to create a duologue between the performer and the media at the time.

The AIDS crisis plays out.

His father calls on him from the other room.

He begins to feel sick and nauseous.

The world seems to stop as he buries his queerness in his pockets.
